Alien Species talk

On the 30th June, perfectly in time for the full on diving season,  FUAM in collaboration with other clubs and the PDSA organised a talk by Professor Alan Deidun, the main marine biologist behind the Spot the Alien Fish citizen Science Project.

With the collaboration of ATLAM, one of our affiliate member clubs, who provided the space for the talk, this event was a welcome educational experience for those not aware of the reasons that the Mediterranean is being colonised or inhabited by multiple new species from, sometimes, quite exotic places.


Apart from the sources of these “invaders”, Professor Deidun also highlighted potential impacts and risks. The participants were also encouraged to contribute sightings through the project website at

FUAM at European Divers Meeting 2017

The FUAM has participated in the European Divers Meeting 2017 event by presenting a Photography Image Show of photos submitted by FUAM member clubs’ members at the social night held at Popeye Village on the 6th June 2017.

On the 07th June, FUAM also assisted to place (and at end of activity, remove) National flags from the 27 EU members on the MV Karwela Wreck at Xatt l-Ahmar, Gozo.
